Background
Born in Kingston, Jamaica on September 21, 1979, Chris Gayle grew up in the tradition of great West Indian opening batters. He made his Test debut in 2000 and transformed from a solid Test opener to the most devastating T20 batter ever to play the game.
Playing Style
Gayle bats from a wide, balanced stance, playing with minimal foot movement but extraordinary power. He targets bowlers from ball one, hits sixes where others see singles, and possesses one of the most natural cricketing gifts ever seen.
Key Achievements
Most sixes in T20 cricket history (1056+). Highest individual T20 score of 175* for RCB vs PWI in 2013 IPL (at the time). Won 2 ICC T20 World Cups with West Indies (2012, 2016). Test triple century vs Sri Lanka (333).
Legacy
Gayle redefined what was possible in T20 batting. His IPL campaigns for RCB made him a global superstar and proved that T20 cricket had a global market. He played franchise cricket on six continents, becoming the first truly global cricket superstar.
